ArtLab is both a student organization and a science communication research group that supports exploration at the intersection of technology, art, and science, focusing on people, programs, and possibilities.
The ArtLab website and social media accounts are managed by a team of undergraduate students at Vanderbilt University. These students schedule external speaker seminar series with academics and companies pushing the boundaries of art-tech-science. Students also develop workshops to learn new digital design skills, coding, animation, and much more.
Students can opt to pursue science communication and engagement research with me, which requires a much more intense time commitment. These students explore topics including the impact of digital platforms and visuals, how science can be co-opted by society to support racist policy, and the overlap between artists' and scientists' skills.
